Exporting & Sharing DICOM Studies
There are a number of methods to share DICOM images with someone outside of HealthTrack.
Option 1: Export as an MP4 file
- Open the DICOM Viewer for the required study.
- Choose the Export MP4 icon in the top left corner - this is the fifth icon along, which looks like a film reel.
- Set the Export Options when prompted.
- Choose the location to save the study when prompted.
Option 2: Export in DICOM format
A DICOM-compatible viewer will be required for any person viewing these images.
- Open the DICOM Viewer for the required study.
- Choose the Save Study icon in the top left corner - this is the third icon along, which looks like a floppy disc.
- Set the Export Compatibility when prompted.
- Select OK.
- Nominate or create a folder to save the study to. This should be a folder that does not already have any contents.
- Select OK.
To view the images, open the DICOMDIR file contained in the export. This will need to be opened in a DICOM-compatible viewer.
Option 3: Create a GIF file
- Open the DICOM Viewer for the required study.
- Choose the Create GIF icon in the top left corner - this is the sixth icon along, which is an orange color.
- Click your mouse pointer in an area of the image, then move the cursor, which will start making a rectangle over the image to select a section. Click the cursor again to finish making your selection.
- The GIF will be created automatically. A green message should appear at the bottom of the DICOM Viewer to advise where this has been saved.
When performing the MP4 or DICOM format exports, we would recommend firstly saving the study to the workstation, before moving it to a disc or USB device. This is because the process can take longer to save to external storage, and could affect the speed of HealthTrack.
