Importing a DICOM Study

HealthTrack stores DICOM studies on its DICOM Server. You can access and load studies through the DICOM Study Browser, from a patient’s Clinical Records, or by opening a study file from a local directory, USB drive, or disc.

The HealthTrack DICOM Viewer must be installed and configured. Contact HealthTrack Support if the DICOM Viewer is not available on your workstation.

Open a Study from Clinical Records

Use this method when a patient already has a DICOM study linked to a clinical record (e.g. an Echocardiogram).

  1. Navigate to the patient and open the Clinical Records tab.
  2. Select the clinical record that contains the DICOM study (e.g. Echocardiogram).
  3. Click DICOM Viewer at the bottom of the record screen.
  4. The DICOM Viewer opens with the selected study loaded.

The study series appear in the top-right panel. Thumbnails of images within each series display in the lower-right panel. Use the scroll bars to navigate through images.

Open a Study from the DICOM Study Browser

The DICOM Study Browser searches the DICOM Server directly. Use it to find studies that are not attached to a clinical record, including migrated studies.

  1. Open the DICOM Study Browser node from the patient record.
  2. Search for the study using the available filters.
  3. Select the study from the search results to open it in the DICOM Viewer.

The DICOM Study Browser can find studies that were migrated from a previous system and were never reported in HealthTrack.

Load a Study from a Local File

Use this method to open a DICOM study stored on your computer, a USB drive, or a disc.

  1. Open the DICOM Viewer (from a Clinical Record or the DICOM Study Browser).
  2. Click the Open Study button in the File menu.
  3. Browse to the folder that contains the DICOM study files.
  4. Select the study and click Open.

The study loads in the main viewing panel. Pre-loaded studies also appear in the left-hand search panel for quick access.

Upload a Study to the DICOM Server

After loading a study from a local file, you can upload it to the HealthTrack DICOM Server so it is available to all users.

  • With the study open in the DICOM Viewer, click the Upload Study button in the File menu.
  • The record will now upload to HealthTrack.
