Set up and pair a Tyro terminal

Pair your Tyro EFTPOS terminal with HealthTrack so staff can take card payments from the receipt screen. HealthTrack sends the amount to the terminal, so nobody enters it twice. Pair each terminal once, then add a merchant ID (MID) for each provider who takes payments.

Before you start

  • Your practice has completed Tyro onboarding and has a Tyro merchant account for the practice and each provider.
  • You have the terminal ID (TID) for each terminal and the MID for each provider. Tyro supplies these.
  • The terminal is powered on, online and on its home screen. For help setting up the terminal itself, see the Tyro Get Started guides.
  • HealthTrack Support has enabled Tyro for your practice. Contact us to arrange this.
  • Your user account has the Allow user to access Payments Setup permission. The HMS-Manager group has it by default.

Allow about five minutes per terminal.

Pair your first terminal

  1. Navigate to Admin > Billing > Tyro Settings.
  2. Click Pair First Tyro Terminal.
  3. On the terminal's keypad, select Menu > Configuration > Integrated EFTPOS > Pair with POS.
  4. In HealthTrack, click Terminal is in pairing mode.
  5. In the Add Tyro terminal dialog, complete the fields below, then click Save and pair.

Field Entry
Location The location where the terminal is used.
Terminal name A name staff will recognise, e.g. Front Desk.
Terminal ID (TID) The TID from Tyro.
Merchant The provider whose MID you are using to pair.
MID source Terminal / manual (card present).
Merchant ID (MID) That provider's MID from Tyro.
MID location All locations, unless the MID applies to one location only.

  1. When the terminal prompts you, select Authorise POS on the terminal.
  2. Wait for Terminal paired. HealthTrack shows how many provider MIDs are added and how many are outstanding.
  3. Click Add More MIDs to add the remaining providers now, or Later.

A paired terminal works from any HealthTrack workstation. To pair another terminal, click Add terminal on the Terminals tab and follow the same steps.

You can also start pairing from Admin > Maintenance > Integrations. Select the Tyro card and click Pair.

If pairing doesn't complete

  • Pairing times out after 90 seconds. Check the terminal is on its home screen, then click Try pairing again.
  • If Terminal not responding? appears, read the message before closing the window. Closing it does not cancel the request on the terminal.

Add provider merchant IDs

Each provider who takes card payments needs a MID. A provider without one can't be charged at a terminal.

  1. In Tyro Settings, select the Provider MIDs tab.
  2. Click Add or edit MIDs.
  3. Enter each provider's MID and select its Location. To add a second MID for the same provider at another location, click + on that row.
  4. Click Save.

Tick Missing only to list providers who don't have a MID yet.

If a location settles under its own merchant account rather than a provider's, click Add location MID.

Manage your terminals

The Terminals tab lists each terminal with its location, TID and pairing status.

Icon Use it to
Star Set the location's default terminal. It's preselected when taking a payment.
Circular arrows Pair the terminal, or re-pair it if payments stop starting.
Pencil Edit the terminal's name, location or TID.
Power Disable or enable the terminal.

Changing a terminal's TID clears its pairing. Pair it again after the change.

Next: Take a card payment with Tyro.
