Set up Tyro in HealthTrack: start here

Connect your Tyro terminal to HealthTrack so staff can take card payments without entering the amount twice. Setup has 3 parts. A practice manager does it once.

Part What you do Time
1. Pair the terminal Link the terminal to HealthTrack. 2 minutes per terminal
2. Add merchant IDs Tell HealthTrack which bank account each doctor's payments go to. About 1 minute per doctor
3. Take a test payment Check it works. 2 minutes

You don't have to finish Part 2 in one go. Doctors with a merchant ID can take terminal payments straight away. For everyone else, keep using the EFTPOS button in Receive Payment until you've added them.

Before you start

Have these ready. Tyro sends them to you when your account is set up.

  • Terminal ID (TID) for each terminal.
  • Merchant ID (MID) for each doctor who is paid into their own account.
  • Location MID, if payments for some services go to the practice instead of a doctor.

Also check:

  • The terminal is on, connected and showing its home screen.
  • You're signed in to HealthTrack as a practice manager. You need the ManagePaymentTerminals permission which is assigned to the HMS-Administrator group by default

What's a merchant ID? It's the Tyro account a payment is paid into. A doctor with their own MID is paid directly. A location MID pays the practice. Every doctor who takes card payments needs one or the other.

Part 1: Pair the terminal

  1. In HealthTrack, select Integration Marketplace from the menu bar, then open Tyro and click Pair.

  1. Click Pair First Tyro Terminal. A dialog shows the steps to follow on the terminal.
  2. On the terminal, press Menu, then select Configuration, Integrated EFTPOS, Pair with POS.
  3. Back in HealthTrack, click Terminal in pairing mode.

  1. In the Add terminal dialog, enter:
    • Location: where the terminal is.
    • Terminal name: a name staff will recognise, e.g. Front Desk 1.
    • Terminal ID (TID): from Tyro.
    • Merchant ID (MID): any one MID from Tyro. You add the rest in Part 2.
  2. Click Pair terminal.

  1. On the terminal, select Authorise POS when asked.
  2. HealthTrack shows Terminal paired. Click Add MIDs to go straight to Part 2.

More than one terminal? Click Add terminal on the Terminals tab and repeat steps 3 to 7.

More than one HealthTrack location at the same site? Some practices have separate HealthTrack locations for testing services, for example Echo and Holter. A terminal pairs to one location at a time, so pair it once for each location it's used for.

Part 2: Add merchant IDs

The Provider MIDs tab lists each doctor. Add a MID for every doctor who takes card payments.

  1. Tick Missing only to show only doctors who still need a MID.
  2. Click the pencil icon on a doctor's row.
  3. Enter their MID and click Save. The row changes to Enabled.
  4. Repeat for each doctor.

Doctor works at more than one location? Click + Location on their row to add a MID for the other location.

Doctor doesn't have their own MID? Click Add location MID in the Location MIDs section and enter the practice's MID. That doctor's payments go to the practice.

A doctor can appear on more than one row if they have more than one provider number or work at several locations. Add the MID on each row they take payments from.

Part 3: Take a test payment

  1. Open a patient's Receive Payment window and click Payment Terminal.
  2. Check the doctor and terminal are correct, then click Charge.
  3. Tap a card on the terminal and wait for APPROVED.
  4. Click Receive Payment.

If it's approved, you're set up. Full steps: Take a card payment with Tyro. To reverse a test payment, see Refund a Tyro payment to card.
