How to use the diary
The Diary is where you view and manage bookings for your practice. This article covers the basics of opening the Diary, moving around it, and switching between views.
Opening the Diary
You can open the Diary in three ways:
- Go to Diary > Open Diary.
- Select the Diary button in the Actions section of a patient's Demographics screen.
- Use the keyboard shortcut
Ctrl+D.
Understanding the different views
There are four ways to view the HealthTrack Diary. Each one changes how the columns are laid out.
| View | Best for |
|---|---|
| Day/Room | Booking multiple appointments at the same location on one day |
| Day/Person | Viewing all appointments for each doctor on a specific day |
| Week/Person | Viewing a doctor's schedule across an entire week |
| Week/Room | Viewing all bookings in a room across a week |
To switch views, use the Display Settings panel in the left sidebar of the Diary. For step-by-step instructions on changing the view, filtering by location, and adjusting time slot sizes, see How to change how the Diary is displayed.
What the Diary shows
Depending on your view and settings, the Diary can display:
- Patient bookings for the selected day, week, room, or person.
- Booking templates that reserve time for particular appointment types.
- Rosters showing when each doctor or person is available.
- Notes for the day, tasks, and the virtual waiting room.
