How to use DICOM Share

The DICOM Share feature sends a secure link to a DICOM study via SMS or email. Recipients can open the study in a web browser. No additional software is required.

DICOM Share must be enabled before use. Contact HealthTrack Support to activate this feature for your practice.

  1. From the Clinical Records tab, right-click on the record from the folders on the left-hand side.
  2. Select the Share Record option.
  3. In the Share Record screen, choose DICOM Study in the top left.
  4. Select whether the link to the study should be sent via Email or SMS in the top right.
  5. Select the recipients.
    • Recipients such as the patient, referring doctor/s, or GP can be selected from the Interested Parties.
    • The Quick Search button can be used to select external providers that may not be listed as an Interested Party.
    • A mobile number or email address can be manually entered. These entries should be comma-separated, or listed on a new line.
  6. At the bottom of the screen, review the selected recipients and the selected method for sending the study.
  7. Select the Share button in the bottom right to send the study.

The nominated recipients will receive a text message or email that contains a link to view the study in a web browser.

The study link is available for 14 days from the date it was sent. Recipients do not need any additional software to view the study.

The message is not sent the moment you select Share. HealthTrack first uploads the study to the secure cloud in the background, then sends the SMS or email once the upload is ready. This usually takes a few minutes, and longer for larger studies. If a recipient has not received the link straight away, this is expected behaviour. The message is sent automatically once the study finishes uploading, so there is no need to select Share again.

Configure message template

A default 'System Message' template is sent to recipients along with the study link. Templates can be edited in Admin > Notifications & Messages > Notification Manager.

System Messages are used as default messages system wide. Any changes made to this template will apply globally. Contact your HealthTrack administrator if you need to update the default SMS or email message.
