How to make Booking Templates
Booking templates define the appointment types, times, and providers available in the diary. They prevent double-bookings and help staff find availability quickly. Templates can be created directly in the diary (user-created) or managed centrally through the Diary Template Manager.
For instructions on creating recurring Diary Templates in the Diary Template Manager, review our Usability Guide article here.
User-created templates
Use this method for ad-hoc or extra clinics - templates you create directly in the diary without going through the Diary Template Manager.
- Open the diary for the date and location where you want to add templates.
- At the bottom right of the diary, set the mode to Template Mode.

To create a template in the Diary, you will need to be viewing the Diary as 'Day + Room' or 'Week + Room'.

- In the Default Type drop-down, select the appointment type for the templates you are about to add.
- (Optional) In the Default MO drop-down, select the provider. Leave this blank if the reporting MO is not yet decided.

- Confirm the Day, Location, and Room are set correctly at the top of the diary.
- Double-click the time slot in the diary where the template should start. A template is created immediately - it displays the same colour as a booking but is transparent, with no patient details.

- To adjust the duration, drag the bottom edge of the template to resize it - no need to open it.
- To change template details, double-click the template to open the template window and edit the fields.

When in Template Mode, double-clicking a template opens it for editing. When in Booking Mode, double-clicking a template creates a new patient booking from it.
Delete a template
- When in Template Mode, right-click the template you want to remove.

- Select Delete Template.
